MAGISTRATES' COURT.

[Before N. Edwards, J. C. Andrew, A G Duff, Esqs., J.J.P.] William Charles Dixon was charged that he did falsely, wickedly, wilfully, and corruptly commit wilful and corrupt perjury in the testimony which he gave upon oath iv his examination upon the hearing of a certain information preferred by him against Mrs Townsend. Mr Acton Adams appeared for the prosecution and Mr Bunny for the defendant. The real question at issue was whether Dixon was correct in stating in his evidence against Mrs Townsend that she served him with wine out of a bottle, the other side asserting that it was out of a glass, and this it was argued for the prosecution was an important and material point, as if the wine was served out of a glass it was corroborative of tho statement made that it had just been

procured from Parmebter's house. After j hearing a deal of very uninteresting evidence, the Bench stated that they were of opinion ■ that Dixon had mado an incorrect statement' but that it was not material to the issue and therefore tbey should dismiss the case. , Antino Bogden was charged with selling' porter without a license. Mr- Bunny appeared for the prosecution and Mr Pitt for the defence. The case was still proceeding when we went to press.
