Air John R. Mabin reports that the sale at his Nelson Auction Rooms on Saturday, the attendance was large owing partly to the large quantity of land to be sold. The first * offer was about 209 acres in the Moutere,* belonging to the legatees of the late Mr Uiftord, and sold by order of the Supreme Court. The bidding for this commenced at .£IOO and the next bid was £ 200, which ad- | vanced by £50's rapidly until it reached £500 The biddings then advanced slowly by £25's and it wae ultimately knocked down for £575 j Afterwards some property by order of Major ' A. br. Morse was offered. Part of Nelson | iown acre 303 realized £50. Blocks E 22, ! 23, 25, and 33 containing abobt 35 acres' situated near Orsinan's plafce, Toi Toi Valley ' at present used, by Mr T. Harley, sold for £145. Acre No. 64?, on Waimea Road, town of Nelson, was bought in at £325. After these lahd sales several norses were disposed of at £7 l5 ro £9. The sale of general merchandise was then cotn™enced - Tea in bond in 211 b boxes brought. Set toUdt aromatic tobacco, 6d; cigars, 5s to 6s 3d pier 100; boxes tea, duty paid, Is 9d per Ib, is 10d; plaid vestas, 4s to 4s 3d per gross.
