EDUCATION BOARD.

The monthly meeting of the Board was held yesterday. Present; Messrs Barnicoat, Dencker, JShephanl, Wastney, Malcolm, Campbell, Bishop of Nelson. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. iiesolved, That thd temporary arrangements made by the Inspector for the conduct of the SS Valley School be approved of. ~ Further consideration of a memorial from the inhabitants of Kockville, asking for a school in that locality) was deferred until after the Inspector's visit to Golden Bay in December. liesolved, That the request of the Town Committee that a master for the Ist divisiou of the Town Schools be again advertised for be complied with. Ilesolved, That, in compliance wilh the request of the Motupiko Committee, a master ! for Motupiko school be advertised for. Eesolved, That Mr Grooby having failed to show any specific damage the Board adhere to its previous decision as to the amount of compensation to be awarded to him. ! Kesolved, That notice be given to Mrs Scaly that the Board will not require the schoolroom in Toi-Toi Valley beyoud the end of the present year. The Board having resolved to determine by lot which three members should retire in March, 1879, the following three names were drawn:— Mr R. Malcolm, Mr W. Rout, and the. Bishop of Nelson, all of whom are eligible \ for re-election.
