On the motion for going into Committee of Supply. Mr Fox moved that the special ■wire arrangements entered into by the Government be suspended till the machinery of the department shall be in a condition to extend equal privileges to all journals and Press Agencies in the Colony, if required. After a long discussion, in which the Premier, and Messrs Atkinson, Bowcn, Stout, Fisher, and others took part, in which the Government, while defending the action Which they had taken, strongly opposed the motion, which was lost by 37 against 23. Mr Barton endeavored to re-open the que3 tion of his charge against the Judges, but as he was going jo particularise, a point of order was raised, which was decided against Mr Barton, who is to re-open the whole matter this evening.

Alter resuming yesterday evening, Mr ivlacandrew moved his resolution regarding a steam service from Great Britain to the colony of such tonnage as will enable them to visit the principal ports of colony and lnnd about 800 statute adults per month for five year.?. The subsidy was not mentioned. After a good deal of discussion in which the principal objection was that Mr Macandrew had failed to furnish any detailed information, the resolution was formally put into committee when progress was reported, Mr Macandrew expressing the hope that he would be able to give the House full information next session. Ou the motion for the second reading ot the Appropriation Act Major Atkinson "took occasion to review the sessiou, the burden of his remarks going to sbow that the Government had failed in all their promises. The Premier, in reply, had said only a few words when he proceeded to accuse Major Atkinson and his late colleagues of enriching their friends out of the public funds and the Crown and Native lauds. Major Atkinson moved that the words be taken down which was done. Major Atkinson said that as the Premier possessed of all the documents, the charges were so serious that he could noc treat them as hitherto. He moved that the matter be enquired into by a Select Committee. A very longdiscuSsion followed on a point of order when Mr Sheehan moved that the words did not exceed the ordinary custom of debate.— Major Atkinson's motion was negatived by 29 to Mr Sheehan's amendment was practically carried by 29 to 13. Sir G. Grey, who had' left the Chamber returned and finished his speech, in which he denounced Major Atkinson and his party for withholding the liberties of the people, aided by a hostile Council and Governor. The Appropriation Bill then passed. The Immigration and Public Works Appropriation Bill was reported. Mr Barton's case comes on at 2.30 to-day. Ihe House adjourned at 3.10 a.m.
