Melbourne, Monday. Savanaka is first favorite for the Cup at 10 to 1. Melita stands at 100 to 8, hut ia not thought much of. Tuesday. Firebell which was backed for the Cup for £30,000 last night is now first favorite. Device, backed for £20,000 stands at 100 to 3 ; Melita now stands at 100 to 10 and Savanaka at 100 to 8. Sydney, Monday. Arrived— Australia from Auckland, "and Bowen at Cooktown with the Torres Straits mails. Brisbane, Monday. H. M. Sapphire returned to port after an unsuccessful search for the missing boats of the barque Onward.
