Up to the time of cur going to press we had received no telegrams of last night's Parliamentary proceedings. Some boys were caught by the police this morning in the act of injuring the trees in the Government grounds, and will to-morrow have to appear before the Magistrates to answer for their misdeeds. So much damage is done to the plantations in every public place in Nelson by mischievously disposed children that some means will have to be devised for checking it. There was a good attendance at the Theatre ltoyal last night, when " Coileen Bawn" was repeated, aud a marked improvement was noticeable in the acting, owing perhaps to some of those who took part in it having overcome their nervousness in appearing for the first time in so difficult a piece. To-morrow night it will again be repeated, and as the prices of admission have been reduced there will no doubt be a good house. At the Magistrates' Court to-day before J. Shephard, G. Gillow, and J. It. Dodson, Esqs., J.J.P. the following cases were heard: — Flowerday v. Verry. Action to recover £,% I"s 6d for board aud lodging. Mr Bunny appeared for the plaintiff. Judgment for amount elainje<J and costs £1 10s.— T. Harley v. Secombe (of viu^kjapd^). Action to recover £8 9s lid, balance of ££.co,unt due for malt supplied. Mr Pitt appeared for plaintiff. Judgment for amount claimed and costs £1 16s. — Wilkie v. Dcrant, for 2« 24 for goods supplied. Judgment for i*rooui# pj/jjined and costs 193 6d» — W. V.
