The Charley Edward leaves Westport for Nelson at 9 o'clock to-night, probably calling at Karamea on the way up. The Wallace had not, been able to cross the Wairau bar up to this morning owing to it 3 shallowness. Should she cross this afternoon she will leave for Wanganui to-morrow afternoon. The Taranaki left New Plymouth at noon to-day, will arrive here early to-morrow morning, and sail at five in the afternoon for Wellington and South. The Arawata, with the Suez mail, leaves Melbourne to-day. She will come as far as Nelson this trip, and will do so during the summer months. The Dido is rapidly approaching completion, and will shortly be taken down from the stocks on Haulashore Island and put into the water. The Alhambra arrived off Hokitika early this morning, after a good run from Melbourne. She may be looked for here to-morrow evening, and will sail for Wellington, South, and Melbourne on Friday rooming.
