It is not often in these days (says an English paper) that one meets with such rancorous religious bigotry as seems to have inspired one of the testators whose disposition of his property is recorded by the Ilhtstrated London Ntius. This gentleman, Mr .Jacob Yallowley Powell, merchant, has left a personal estate sworn under £160,000. His iirst object in death seems to be the disestablishment of tbo Church of England, for he bequeaths to the Society for the Liberation of Keiigion from State Patronage aud Control no less than £5000. A inimber of missionary and charitable societies get £1000 each, the minister of the Baptist Chapel which Mr Powell attended £500, and the societies connected with the chapel a like sum. Two nieces get £20,000 between them; but it is provided that if either of these ladies shall marry a minister of the Established Church, or a person holding any office or commission in her Majesty's army, her interest in such bequest is to lapse, and to go among the charitable societies or hospitals enumerated. Finally, the testator directs that he shall be buried in unconsecrated ground. When we contemplate the lone and pitiful condition of those living in lonely' parts of the far interior, isolated, and struck down by sickness, without the aid of the physician or the chance of procuring: medicine, we should be thaukful for our own privileges iti being able to procure those invaluable medicines, " Giioix au's Giieat Indian Cures;" aud in kindness to others recommend their use, as we have found them truly beneficial.
