The Murray left for West Coast ports last evening. The Charles Edward leaves Westport for Nelson to-night, weather permitting. The Kennedy will leave Wellington for Nelson this evening, and sail for the Coast on the arrival of the Taranaki with the San Francisco mail on Thursday. The Claud Hamilton sailed for Welli"gton, South, and Melbourne shortly after 5 p.m. yesterday, and arrived at the former port at 7 a.m to-day. She leaves there for Xyttelton at noon to morrow. The Taranaki leaves Onehunga with the San Francisco mail at four o'clock this afternoon. She will arrive here on Thursday morning, and sail for Wellington and South by the same tide at 8 a.m. Capt. R. A. Edwin reports as follows :— Watch barometer, bad weather approaching, any direction between north and west and south-west, and further fall of glass. Expect rain. The Ringarooma did not arrive at Wellington until Sunday, having been detained by a dense fog. She sailed yesterday afternoon with the GUtward Suez mail.
The Celestial Queen left Port Chalmers last week for Oamaru, where she will complete her loading, and then sail for some Channel port for orders. We are glad to hear of the promotion of Mr Frank Garrard, chief officer of the Taiaroa, to the command of the steamer Ladybird, which for the future will run up the East Coast. We congratulate Captain Garrard upon his promotion. The schooner signalled yesterday proved to be, as we predicted, the Mary Ogilvie from Greymoutb, which port she left yesterday week. She sailed into harbor with the afternoon tide, and commenced discharging her cargo of coal, which is consigned to Mr J. S. Cro99 jun., alongside the Commercial Wharf to-day.
The Wellington left Wellington at 1 p.m. yesterday, and arrived at Picton at 7 p.m., sailed at 830 p.m., and arrived here at 6.15 am. to-day. Experienced a fresh breeze from the N.W. throughout. The Wellington leaves for Picton and Wellington at 5 pm.
