The whole of the profits are divided amongst the assured, and bonuses to the amount of £910,000 have alreidy 'been allotted. The I last division of profits took place in 1874, and the cash surplus then divided amounted to £235,000, giving additions to policies averagiDg £8 per cent per annum on the sum assured. The bonuses paid on policies becoming claims have varied from £15 per cent on the sum agßured for a policy of five years' standing at £150 per cent for one of twentyfive yfats' duration Bonuses become V6Bte s additions to policies when they have teen full five uars in force. Report on a Sarrple of Inrperial Schiedam Schnapps received frcm Mr H. J. Hart. We iiave subjected a sample of the abovenamed article to a very careful chemical analysis and examination. The results of the analysis, which are se forth in a eepnrate report show that this spirit is of good strength, practically free from aridity, and that it contains but traces of solid matter in solution. It rossespes a delicate and ngreeable aroma, and a pure and mild ta9te. Mr Hart's Schiedam Schnapps is a very superior article of its clas9 is well purified and is quite genuine. (Signed) f ethur H. Sir,— l have the honor 'to report for your information that tbe sample of Imperial Schiedam Schnapps forwarded by you to me has been submitted to a searching chemical analysis and critical exaojinnti^n, »he result of which enables me to state that it is the Finest Sample of Schnapps that as yet come under my notice. It has a pure fragrant odour, imd is absolutely free from any trace of fuul or other injurious impurity, and has evidently been distilled from superior rye gr<in, olways used instead of malt in the production of the choicest qualities of Schnapps. It is very smooth to the palate, and in this respect corapan sifavourably with other samples ofiered lor dale. It may be advised as equallyj suitable for medical or economic purposes.
