Mr Simonsen's name is a sufficient guarantee for the quality of the music, and Mr Bent's that the audience will bo kept amused from the beginning to the close of the performance. A lectuke in connection with the Young Men's Christian Association will be delivered in the Proviucial Hall this evening by the Rev A. J. Hamilton, who takes for his subject, " Spurgeon, his life and work." A correspondent sends the following from Wakefield .- —" On returning from chapel on Sunday eveniug last several females were very much annoyed by a troop of young gentlemen (so-calied) who insisted on following them, aud further entertaining them with snatches of song aud slang speeches quite cut of keeping with the evening. If such conduct is repeated I shall do them the honor of putting their names in print." The Kuniara Times of Friday says : — lt Is currently rumoured in town that Captain Edwin is either on leave of absence or is suffering from sickness, as the splendid weather the last few days would denote.
