[A gentleman being asked to 'Contribute towards a bazaar* for the restorntioa of th« Priory Church, Dunstable, sat down and wrote the following which was printed in pamphlet form, and met with a ready sale.] The moon shone on the I-V 0 ! And lit the streets of D.* When I made love to L-N IC, One evening after T. I pluck'd for her a bright sweet P, And flowerets not F IT, I heaved a sigh, she ask'd me Y, I told my love N-U. OL-NK! OL-NK! Was faithless as the C, She's gone away in bright R-A, Aud I am all TJ P. " I love you to X-S," said I— "X-S of X-T-C," She answered with a smile B-9, " Your little wife I'll B, My heart's best love I'll give to U, 'Tis boundless as the C ; Thro' life's sweet day 'twill not D-.K. And ne'er A-P-Z B." 0, L-N K ! &c. I swear we 2 shall soon B I, I swear by yon dark U ; " " 0 swear to give," said L-N K, « All that I ask of U." Then whispered with a tearful I, " You would not me N-V, Did IT but know all that I 0, My purse is quite M-T." * 0, L-N K ! &c. "And if you love," said L-N K., " You will not T-Z B. When I ask TJ in lending Q, To lend me L S D." " 0, think not I, sweet L-N K, Can ever T-Z B, With N-E questions ask'd by TJ, I'll lend U L S D." 0, L-NK, &e. To write a cheque I did S-A, I wrote for hundreds 3, "I wish the sum," said L-N K, " At least could double B." " This loan, sweek L-N U will 0, While still alone L T B ; But nought you'll owe, when W R, For we'll B 1, TJ C." 0, L-NK! &q. I thought her lips were honey, 0, I thought myself a B j I ne'er had sipped such sweets B-4 As now I sipped at T. I saw all things with fancy's I, I lived in X-T-C, For 3 short months drank love's X-S, In its In-10-C-T. OL-NK! &c. One day I went, I know not Y, To breakfast 'stead of T ; When who should meet my anvgy I But that young 0-N Gr. His arms clung round her like I-V, I C-Z 0-N G, And cried " Deceitful L-N K, O, W R I C." 0 L-N K I &c. "Now what d'ye want ? " said L-N-K "0,1 come to C Q," * "I will retire, said 0-N G, "I C that I P Q." "OLN! L-N! L-NK! "From truth IT D-V-8, " O, many days must pass B-4 " This guilt yon X-P-8." O,L-NK! &c. " Avaunt ! I'll not A-Q-Z B, I'll nought X-10-U-8, Begone I begone ! " screamed L-N K, "You're too F-M-N-8: Ignoble, C-D, mean, TJ R. And mean you'll ever B." Then in the fire, false L-N K, Did toss my F-E-G. O, L-N K ! &c. " O pay," said I, " the sura TJ 0, The loan of hundreds 3," " I'll leave it a-loan, said L-N D, Wherever I may B ; I want no more remarks from TJ, Your face no more to C, And would you know the reason Y, I'm Mistress 0-N G." 0, L-N K ! &c. I sought my homo with tearful I, Deep sunk in sorrow's C ; The Cupid light that lit her I, Was but Q-P-D-T. That face is gone, I thought B-9, My heart is aching, 0, She sent by post an 1.0.TJ, Then sailed for 0-1-0. O,L-NK! &c. *Short for Dunstable.
