The following wns accidentally omitted from the exports by the Wellington yesterday : — 3O cases hematite, Johnston Brothers. She sails to-morrow, ber destination being Sydney. The Alhambra was due at Hokitika last night, but up to the time of our going to press her arrival there had not been telegraphed. The Taranaki left New Plymouth this morning, will arrive here this evening, and sail at 9.30. a.m. to-morrow for Wellington and South. A heavy south easterly gale must have been blowing in the Straits yesterday as the Taiaroa, which left here on Monday, did not arrive at Wellington until 8.30 a.m. to-day, and the Wellington which sailed at 8 a.m. yesterday, did not reach Pieton until early this morning. The Wairau bar was in such a bad state last week that the steamer Napier went to Pieton and landed her cargo there, it being forwarded to Blenheim by rail. The expenses thus incurred were so heavy that very little was left iu the shape of freight to the steamer, some 9d a ton being all that she received, after everything was paid. It is only a question of time when Blenheim will receive all its requirements by way of Picton. The contiguity of the latter to Wellington and Nelson, and its easy access in nil kinds of weather by large vessels, must at no distaut date make it the centre of trade, from which Blenheim and the surrounding districts will draw all they require.
