As a result of the late ■' Trial by Jury " performances, we understand that _£ll 103 each has been handed over to the Nelson Aid Society, the Hospital, and the Harmonic Society, and .£ls, including the rent of the Hall, to the Odd-Fellows. A Quadrille Assembly is announced to take place in the Theatre Royal to-morrow evening. It is under tho auspices of the Odd-Fellows, and the proceeds are to go to the Building Fund. A number of tickets have been disposed of, so that a large gathering may be anticipated. A siketing of several persons interested in fairly testing a supposed copper lode discovered some years ago upon land now held by Messrs Johnson Brothers at Aniseed Valley was held last night at Mr Mabin's office. Preliminary arrangements were made by which the Messrs Johnson hand over all their rights to the promoters, who intend spending £200 or _£300 in gettiug out as much ore as possible and sending it to Sydney for a thorough test of its value. The promoters have been fortunate in securing as manager Mr E. Thornaß, an old Cornish copper miner of great experience, and who was for some time manager of the celebrated Caledonian Mine at the Thames. The Raphael Family will appear at Stoke this evening in the Reading Boom, when the residents of that district will have an opportunity of witnessing the clever performances of this troupe.

A __.ee_.ixg of hotelkeeper3 in the town and country is called for to-morrow at three p.m., at the Trafalgar Hotel, for the purpose of considering the beer tax and forming a Licensed Victuallers' Association.
