Aug 31 Steamer Charles Edward, from" West Coast, September 1 Barque Helen Denny, from London Barque Edwin Fox, "from London Captain Edwin reports this afternoon as follows: — "Watch barometer; bad weather approaching, any direction between north and west and south-west. Glass will fall again soon." The ship Zealandia has arrived at Wellington after a passage cf 89 days. The Murray has arrived at Waitara, afttr discharging cargo at New Plymouth. The Kennedy has arrived at Hokitika, and will sail to-morrow, weather permitting. The Lady Barkly sailed on her usual trip to Golden Bay last evening. The Albion leaves Melbourne for the Bluff to-day. The Wallace has grounded on the Wairau bar. She is well inside, and therefore not exposed to the sea. The Charles Edward has returned to Westport after jying for 43 hours off the Oreymouth bar, which is impassable. The Taiaroa leaves Port Chalmers for Northern ports to-day. She will arrive here on Saturday. The Wanaka, which had been detained at Onehunga for the San Francisco mail, crossed the Manukau bar at 10.55 this morning. The Arthur Wakefield left Motueka on Monday night for Wellington with a load of timber. As the winds have been in her favor since she ought to have reached her destination ere this. We learn that the vessel building at Frenchman's Bay by Mr liicketts is in a forward state, and will be. launched in the course of a week or two. She is described a.s a handsome vessel, and will be a desirable acquisition to our coasting fleet. The Wellington arrived at Wellington early this morning. She leaves there at 1 p.m. to-morrow, will arrive here on Friday morning, and return to Picton and Wellington at *J a.m. on Saturday. The Maori, which has been on the West Coast for the past ten days, is now barbound at Greymouth, (here not being enough water on the bar to admit of her egress. Captain Bernech expects to get out on Friday. The schooner Nelson sailed for Puramahoi this morning, under the charge of the mate, Captain Robinson having resigned his position. A new master will be procured at Wellington, and proceed across the bay to join the vessel there. The Nelson takes a load of timber to Lyttelton. H.M S. Cormorant, 0 guns, which has been appointed to the Australian station, is a composite sloop of 1124 tons and 900 h.p.She has been commissioned at Chatham, and is officered by Commander J. A. Bruce Lieutenants C. M. Luckraft, G. Hodgkinson! and V. F. Hughes; surgeon, F. H. Lewis- J Horrocks, staff; paymaster, H. B. Robinsonassistant, 11. E. Bourchier. '
