THE LATE DEPUTATION TO WELLINGTON. .To the Editor of the 'Evbnixg Mail.' Sir— A considerable number of enquiries having been made as to the result of our late interview with the Government re the extension of the Nelson and foxhill Railway, it will perhaps interest aud satisfy a number of your readers to know that the necessary funds for extending the present line to Bell Grove will be placed on the Estimates. Also the following matters coming out of my late interview with Sir George Grey when in Nelson, viz., the Wairoa Bridge, the plans and specifications for which are now "completed, an.l are only awaiting the inspection of the Engitieer-iu-Chief before tenders are iuvited for its erection;' the expenditure of the whole of the unexpended sums voted last year, including several special grants to Road Boards, one of which is for the opening of a coach road between Foxhiil and the West Coast; and, though last not least, the extension of the school ticket system on the lines of railway, by which bona fide scholars under tho age of 19 may travel for the smal'sum of 10s per quarter. Tin's latter, lam told, was promptly given effect to, and must be looked upon as a great boon to many hundreds of families in New Zealand, and, 1 may add, as an earnest of the intention of the present Government to do justice to all parts of the colon}-.— l am, &c, W.
