[Special ] London*, August 20. Mr Forster, the Sydney Agent-General, was not present at the' former interview with the Government re the mail services, but, accompanied by Sir J. Yogel, be has now seen Sir Michael Hicks-Beach, who appeared favorably disposed, and stated that the matter was undecided, and, though late, intimated that it should be reconsidered The wool sales opened this afternoon. The number of bales hi time for the sale amounts to 312,353, of which 15,000 were despatched to Yorkshire and the Continent. The first day's catalogue comprised 7 ) .'si'j bales, in which was a large proportion of Queensland wools. The attendance or home and foreign buyers was large, and the prices showed" a slight advance. Tho bidding commenced with great spirit.
