[PKKSS AGENCY.] Balclutha, Friday. Gorman, agent for Nobel's dynamite, has finished the work of blasting rocks on the Ciutha river, ordered by the Board of Conservators. The work is very satisfactorily carried out, and it is belived no rocks now obstruct the river, up to a point some miles below Beaumont. Gorman, yesterday afternoon, experimented by dynamite upon a tree stump on Inch-Clulba in presence of a large number or! settlers of the Ciutha. The experiment was considered highly satisfactory. A large stump and roots were completely smashed, blown out of the ground, and the pieces scattered hundreds of feet over the paddock. Gorman fully explained the mode of using dynamite to those present, lie also experimented at the Corporation quarry here, showing its great superiority over ordinary blasting powder.
