WAIMEA ROAD BOARD.
Tlie monthly meesing was held on Saturday, August 3rd. All the raeaaoers present.

I wißhed first for your instruciions, as the river will have to be turned before anything permnnent can be tffectea to the fordway. The Applehy bridge approach was agnin partially destroyed; it is made passable, and groins are now being put in to protect it. The timber for Stratford's Creek Bridge has all been delivered. Complaints beving been made that the breakwater erected by the Board to protect the FoxhiU bridge had been the cauae of damaging property below, the Surveyor and myself visited the spot »Bfl ran find no Bnch case exists. I have been active with the gravel carts "wherever ihe metal has been procurable and the hnulege not long. The expemlilure for the past month has been bb followa :— Stoke, £15 10a; Waiinea East, £34 4s , Spring Grove, £14 16 ; Wakened, £73 18 i 3 \ ; Wfiiraea West, £50 10s Id ; Doveinie, £31 14a 6d ; Wairaea Bridge?, £37 11s." Resolved, That noue of the tenders now received for the Stanley Brook roud be accapte j, as being too high, and that before deciding on those for (ha bridge at Stratford J e Greek, the Secretary obtain an explanation of one of them. The Surveyor reported having seen Mr Painton, who agreed to at once remove the fence, &c, at his corner so as to widen the road. • A letter was received from Mr James Knapp, offering to sell the corner of his land at forty-line, so as to widen the rond. The Surveyor was directed to prepare a plan and ascertain Mr Knapp's terms. , i The Chairman reported that aa'application had been made to him to retulrn some of the timber lately . carted frbm the site of the Wairoa bridge, rind alleged to belong to the Government. After hearing the Overseer's statement, it waa resolved that, es all the timber which bris been removed was fairly bought at the auction sale, the Board decline to give any of it up. Mr Beattie attended and reqnested ; to know when the road to his lend, nepr Bishopdale station, for which he applied long since, will be made passable, as; it appears to him that the work now being done by the railway authorities Will Dot enable him to reach bis land.' : The Surveyor was ; directed to ex- j emma this work when done and report. Mr Green applied by letter to have & cartbridge erected at the Btream near Mr Stafford's stable, which h becoming deep and dangerous, an accident having lately occurred there. The Overseer Was directed to have a footbridge put up. Mr Holland proposed that some piles should be driven ia the Wai-iti, at the crossing tb Qaail valley, so that a footbridqa might be made. Resolved. That this be done When the pile engine is at liberty. A letter was received from the Government Printer, enclosing account for subscription to the Government Gazette and Acts of Parliament, stating that the Government haye 1 decided' that for the future such papers can only be famished to Hoard Boards on payment of subscription. Resolved, That this matter be further considered at next meeting. Complaint was made that the drain" ago is obstructed by culverts erected at the roadside by Mr J. Palmer. The Overseer was directed to have the obstructions removed.
Warrants were signed for £301 3s 4d.
