PARLIAMENTARY.

Wellington, Friday. The House met ot 2.30 p.m. Mr Fieldwick took the oath and his seat.

Ten days absence was granted to Mr Pyke. Mr Bal lance tabled a return showing the salary drawn by each Minister since taking office, together with other allowances.

The Government did not intend to trouble this session with a Bill dealing with public domains and gardens throughout the Colony. The second reading of the Imprest Supply Bill was fixed for Tuesday. Mr Fisher announced that the Taranaki, with the San Francisco mails, could not get over the Manukau bar, and had gone back to Onehuuga.

The Government have promised to furnish a return showing the cost of running the Hinemoa between December and June, with the names of persons other than the Government staff and Ministers who have travelled during that period at the expense of the Government. The return, however, will include the cost, &c. of all Government steamers since 1870.

Mr Gibbs asked what action had been taken during the recess towards carrying out the recommendation of the Petitions Committee, on the petition of certain inhabitants of Nelson and Golden Bay, for the extension of the telegraph from Motueka to Collingwood. £|Mr Fisher said the Government had no objection to carry out what was desired, proTided they got a good guarantee. The House adjourned till Tuesday.
