The Awaroa is rapidly loading with cargo, and is an nnii need to sail for Wanganui at 7 a.m. on Monday. The schooner Nelson arrived at Lyttelton from Picton on Tuesday last with a "load of timber. The Murray left for New Plymouth yesterday afternoon, and may be expected back to-morrow. _ The Lyttelton this morning was still outside the Wairau bar, but it is possible she may be able to cross this evening. The Charles Edward arrived at Hokitika this morning. She reports the channel very narrow, parallel with the shore, and only workable with very smooth water. Steam was got up on board the Pelorus this afternoon and she made a trial trip, proceeding outside the Boulder Bank. She ■will be ready for sea next week. The Maori left New Plymouth for Nelson to-day with a cargo of sheep. She will arrive here early to-morrow morning, and sail for Wellington and South at 3 p.m. on Monday. The Wellington hauled alongside the hulk Hera last evening for the purpose of getting her bunkers filled with coal. She sailed for Picton and Wellington at 3.30 this afternoon. The Kennedy left for Wellington at 5 p.m. yesterday, but returned to port at 9.30 with the crank shaft of her starboard engine broken. Her passengers and cargo were this morning transferred to the Wallace, which proceeded to Wellington at 1 o'clock. The repairs to the Kennedy will be done at the Anchor Foundry and the delay only a few days. The Union Company's s.g, Taranaki, Capt. Malcolm, arrived in harbor this morning at six o'clock. She left Dunedin at 1.30 p.m. on Wednesday, and arrived at Lyttelton at 7.15 p.m. next morning; sailed at 4 p.m. same day, and arrived at Wellington at 8 a.m. yesterday; left at 5 p.m., and arrived here as above. Experienced light northerly winds with smooth sea to Wellington, thence fresh southerly winds. The Taranaki sails for Taranaki and Manukau at 5 p.m. A Sydney telegram, dated Thursday, says: — The barque James Service, bound for Melbourne from Calcutta, with a cargo of castor oil, jnte.aud sacks, was totally wrecked on the Murray reef, Western Australia. All the crew and passengers, numbering seven are believed to be lost.
