The Maori arrived at Onehunga this morning. The Taranaki leaves Wellington this afternoon, will arrive here to-morrow morning, and sail for Taranaki and Manukau at £ p.m. On Monday last while the Wellington was at Pieton a thief entered the chief officer's berth and stole a pair of trousers and overcoat. Information was given to the police, and the thief was arrested, and sentenced to a month's imprisonment. The Wellington arrived in harbor at 2.15 this afternoon, with the Suez mail. She left Wellington at 1 30 p.m. yesterday, and Picton early this morning. The Wellington returns to Pieton and Wellington at 3 p.m. to-morrow. The Kentish Tar will probably iinish discharging the Nelson portion of her cargo to-morrow. She has already taken in a quantity of ballast, which has brought her more on even keel. The barque will probably get away at the latter end of next week. We understand that in consequence of the near approach of the summer months, the coastal steamers of the Union Company's fleet will call at Nelson both ways, so that we shall have no reason to complain of the shipping facilities during the fruit season. The Murray arrived iv harbor this morning at 7.30. She left Nelson at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, and experienced strong S.E. winds, which raised a heavy sea, so much so that when opposite The Brothers the Murray was compelled to turn tail and rnn for shelter to Queen Charlotte's Sound, where she remained at anchor until Wednesday morning, when she got under weigh aud sailed for Wellington, arriving there at 4 p.m. same day; le*_t at 6 p.m. yesterday, and experienced light S.E. winds during the passage across, arriving here as above. The Murray sailed for New Plymouth at 2.30 p.m The s s. Kennedy, Capt. Palmer, returned to port this morning at 8 o'clock. She reports leaving Nelson on Tuesday, the 16th, for West Coast ports, called at Karamea to pick up Messrs Broad, Shrimpton, and Stitt, who had been detained there since the wreck of the Result, and arrived at Westport at 9 p.m. on Wednesday; sailed for Hokitika on Thursday at midnight, arriving there on i Friday morning; sailed for Greymouth on Saturday, arriving there by the same tide; left for Westport on Monday afternoon, and arrived there at 2 a.m. on Tuesday; sailed at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, and crossed the Karamea bar on the same day at 6 p.m.; landed a quantity of timber, and sailed for Nelson on Thursday at 5 p.m., arriving here as above. Pine weather was experienced all round the Coast, The Kennedy sailed for Wellington at 5 p.m. While dredging for oysters off Portland lately, the smack William and Henry, of Emsworth, picked up a small waterproof bag, containing two £10 notes and cheques drawn on San Francisco to the amount of £150, The bag is supposed to be a relic of the Avalanche, which was wrecked off the coast last year. Salvage will be claimed in London.
