The Ocean Bird hauled alongside the Kvik this morning, and received a full cargo of coal. She sails for Wanjranui to-night. . The Nelson arrived at Picton from Napier on Saturday last after a long passage, having .been compelled to run back three times through stress of weather. She is now loading there with timber for Lyttelton. The barque signalled yesterday proved to be an illusion, no vessel of that class having arrived here since. The Lyttelton hauled alongside the Kvik this afternoon for the purpose of receiving a quantity of coal. She sails for Blenheim on Sunday morning. The schooner Richard and Mary, now over three weeks from Wellington to Collingwood, crossed the Bay yesterday, and should be at her destination by this time. The Taiaroa crossed the Manukau bar at 4.30 p.m. yesterday. Captain Morgan, late of the barque Ann Gambles, before bis departure from New Zealand received a telegram from the Government stating that they had posted his certificate also a new Zealand certificate as master, to the London Board of Trade, to be handed to him on his arrival at London The Government did not consider the evidence justified the Court of Enquiry in suspending his certificate. The Wellington arrived in harbor this morning at 6 o'clock. She left Wellington at 1.30" p.m. yesterday, and arrived at Picton at 7 p.m.; sailed at 8 p m., and arrived here as above. After landing cargo the Wellington steamed across to Haul-ashore Isiand, where she was placed on the hard for the purpose of being cleaned and painted. She will come off the hard to-morrow evening, and sail for Picton and Wellington at 8 p.m. There is in Bombay harbor just now (says the limes of India of the Bth ult.) a little topsail schooner of 130 tons register, named the Border Maid, which has been cruising about the world with a cargo of slierry and madiera (in butts and hogsheads) simply with a view to improve it. She has only six bands all told on board. She left Leith on August 18th, 1877, touched at Plymouth, and different ports in Australia, thence, to Bombay, and now returns to Scotland, via the Cape., The wine belongs to a firm in Leith, and the idea is a very novel one She has absolutely no other cargo on board.
