COMMERCIAL.
Mr Mabin reports holding a sale yesterday at Brightwater when tho attendance was verylarge, induced mainly hy the miscellaneous articles he had to dispose of. The first was the timber which formed part of the old Wairoa bridge. This was sold in various lots for which there was brisk competition the largest purchasers being the Waimea Road Board, who secured the totara and black birch for bridges in other portions of their district. The amount realised for the timber was over £90. Afterwards he sold cattle, horses, &c, at his yards adjoining Martin's Hotel for which the following prices were obtained:— Cows to calve in about three months, £5 5s to £7; two-year-old bull, £2 2s 6d; a cow, heifer, and calf, £9 the' lot; working bullock, £4 15s ; steers, 42a eachheifera, £3 each; pigs, Js to 17s6d; turkeys! 3s 3d; fowls, ls Id; foal by Totara, £7; filly by Liilip-e, £10; eight-year-old chestnut mare, broken to harness, £5; two-year-old filly, £7 10s; two-year-old gelding, £6; two yearling foals, £3 15s each; draught gelding, three-year-old, not broken in, £14 10s ; horse, dray, and harness, £19. Afterwards a quantity of f rt_U __» disposed of at satisfactory prices.
