A cobkespondent writing from Motueka thinks that the bridge will be a useful structure if a patent lift is constructed on the Motueka side for the purpose of putting carts, passengers, etc., on to the bridge, and that when the river goes round the other side a ferry at Dodson's house might be advantageous.

On Sunday last the senior teachers at the Wakefield Church Sunday School received a handsome present each, subscribed for by the parents aud well wishers of the Sunday School children, in recognition of the Christian services rendered by them for several years. Mr Edward Baigent, M.H.R., on behalf of the subscribers, made the presentation in the presence of the chi.dren and friends assembled in the schoolroom. The presents consisted of a writing desk each for Mr A. T. Robertson and Mr W. Robson, and a neat work-box each for the Misses Robson. Mr Baigent also congratulated the junior teachers upon the work they had in hand and encouraged the teachers and children to persevere, as such good work could not fail to carry its own reward. The presents and compliments were suitably acknowledged by Mr Robertson on behalf of all.
