MURDER OF AN AUSTRALIAN LEGREE.
A correspondent writing to the; Sooth Australian Register supplies the following particulars respecting the recent murder at Srelelzki Creek, South Australia; — "The white man, Mullhofland; and the aboriginal, Logic," had .gone out to ride the south boundary of the i cattle run. About mid-day ; MulU holland bad some altercation whh Logic for keeping too far behind, and insisted on Iris going ahead. He then struck, him with his stockwhip, and on the black becoming insolent, he shot him in the lower part of the back, the bullet remaining in him. On coming into camp, Mullholland ordered the ; native to carry, firewood. He refused, saying was too bad, and went to the clßypan, took off his trousers and boots, and began to wash off the, clotted blood, as the wound had bled profusely. Mull--1 holland came to the edge of the olaypan, and btockwhipped the native, who went into the middle of the claypan Mullholland following. When in the middle of the claypan the black turned round and' attacked Mullholland. The latter retreated" and endeavoured to get hold of his revolver, which he had put carelessly in his belt, or rather between his trousers and shirt; butinthe course of istockwhipping the native it had slipped down into the seat of bis trousers, i native having cloned \ with the white, heU him in a tight grip "round the heck with one hand, while with the other he took a pocket-knife out of Mullholland's trousers pocket, which he (opened with; his teeth, and Btftbbed . him ., k ajl -over the head sind .chest., - Having .killed jbjm, he obtained,, * a 'stick and proceeded to smseh in the ,
skull of his adversary, which ia invariably the plan adopted by a black towards an opponent when successful in a quarrel. Logic afterwards returned to the station, and has since oleared out into the bush."
