It is proposed to form a Company with the above title, and to be registered under the " Limited Liability " Acts for the purpose of Mining for Copper on D'Urville Island. The promoters have secured a lease upon very favourable conditions for 21 years (renewable at the option of the lessees for a further similar term) of 1280 acres commencing from the South Easterly shore of the Island with a frontage of Two Miles by a depth inland of One Mile. A rich load of. Copper Ore exists in the leased land from 3 feet to 6 feet wide, the outcrop of which has been traced for upwards of a mile. There is ample depth of water for the largest vessels to lie within 600 yards of the outcrop of the lode. Between the outcrop and the sea a Tramway and Jetty (for the building of which and other purposes the Leases have a right to cut timber), are all the works required for' shipping the ore, of which it may be truly said there is practically an unlimited quantity. . „ . The cost of getting, shipping, and landing at Newcastle, N.S.W., where it is proposed \ to forward the ore for smelting, will: not j exceed £\ 10s per ton. J Several careful assays has been made of j the ore, the lowest result obtained being 15 percent, and the highest nearly 70 per cent, or an average of upwards of 40 percent of pure copper, but it is certain that ia yield of 20 per cent of copper would leave a very large profit to the shareholders after payment of all outlay. Immediately on a sufficient number of shares being applied for, the allotment will be made, and a meeting of the shareholders: J called for the purpose of approving of the " Articles of Association, electing a Chairman, Directors, &c. Applications for shares, accompanied by . the deposit, will be received by the under- v ' signed, JOHN R, MABIN, Agent. Nelson, May 28, 1878.
