MOTUEKA.
(From our own Correspondent ) June 6. The. Licensing Court for this, district was , advertised to take place oh June 4th, but owing to one of the Commissioners absenting himself the Court had to be adjourned to June 26. A memorial was handed in with a number of signatures appended addressed to the Commissioners praying that the application for a publican's license for the Bridge lun should be refused. Mr Sharp spoke in favor of the license being granted, as the house was necessary for travellers, &c— A public meeting was held to-night for the election of a School Committee, which resulted in Messrs C. Parker, W. Boyce, T. Boyes, S. Buchholz, R. Hursthouse, John Delaney, and the Rev.S.Poole being elected. There were 14 candidates. The voting was by ballot, and seme of the candidates plumped for themselves to the extent of the whole seven votes allowed by the Act. There seems to be some doubt existing in the miuds of many persons here a3 to the validity of the election in consequence of the plurality of votes.
