DEATH OF EARL RUSSELL
London, May 27. In the match between the Australian cricketerg and the Marylebone club, the first innings of the latter closed for thirty-three, and the first innings of the Australians for forty-one. In their second innings Marylebone scored nineteen, the bowling of the Australians being very effective. The game was won by Australia with nine wickets to spare. Spofforth took eleven wickets for twenty runs, and Boyle eight wickets for seventeen runs. There was a very large attendance. Prince Bismarck invites' the Powers to a Congress which is expected to meet on the 11th June. The whole treaty is to be subjnitted.
It was officially stated in Parliament that the prospects of peace have materially improved. _ , „ May 28. Earl Russell is dead. Consols, 97-J.
