Oamartj, Wednesday. Young Maitland, who was in injured in the coach accident yesterday, died this morning. He was the son of J. P. Maitland, aud was on his way. to school at Curistchurch. His father and mother arrived just in time to seo their son die. Goddard, the driver, has been insensible all day, but hopes are entertained of his recovery. At an inquest held to-day one the bodies of Nicholls and Maitland, who were killed in the coach accident, evidence was taken as to the death. Theiuquest then adjourned till 6th June, as Goddard, the driver is not able to give evidence as to what caused the accident. Goddard is slightly better to-night.
Ddnedin, Wednesday. It is said that Mr A. J. Burns is about to resign his seat as a member for Roslyn. CnnisTcnußCH, Wednesday. The Tramway Company are about to commence operations in laying the line.
Timartt, Thursday. An inquest was held near Timaru yesterday on the body of James Campbell who was killed by a team of horses ho was driving trampling on him. A verdict of accidental death was returned.
The case of Murray, the schoolmaster charged with indecently assaulting his scholars has created a great deal of interest in the neighborhood. The hearing was adjourned.
