The Maori resumed her voyage at 6.30 last evening. The Tasso was towed to sea by the Lady Barkly last evening at nine o'clock, and at once set sail for Newcastle. The Shepherdess is loading at West Wanganui with coal for Wellington. The May has not yet arrived there from Nelson, having had to take shelter on account of the recent bad weather. The Taiaroa leaves New Plymouth this afternoon, will arrive here to-morrow morning, und sail for Wellington and South on Monday morning at 11 o'clock, carrying Sydney passengers and cargo to the Wakatipu. Neither the Richard and Mary nor the Maid of Otago, both of which are due here from Oamaru, were seen by the Wellington yesterday, so that they must be lying in some snug corner waitiug for a chance to come to Nelson. The Lady Barkly, which arrived from Golden Bay yesterday afternoon, brought news of the wreck of the Mermaid, which occurred at the Tata Islands on Saturday last during a heavy N.W. gale. The particulars to hand are very meagre. The Mermaid y/aa a ketch of about 12 tons, owned by Mr Dodson of Riwaka, and under the charge of Captain Smith, who has been sailing out of this port for a number of years. The Wellington arrived from Picton and Wellington at 3 o'clock last night. She left the latter port at midnight on Thursday, and reached Picton at 530 a.m. on Friday; sailed at 11 a.m., and arrived here as above. Experienced strong N.W. winds throughout. The Wellington returned to the same ports at 10 a.m. to-day, and leaves Wellington on Monday afternoon arriving here on Tuesday morning, sailing by the same tide at 11 a.m. for Picton and Wellington. On the last passage of the Wellington between Picton and Wellington, and when about seven miles down the Sound, she collided with the schooner Aurora. The Aurora caught the Wellington on the starboard side, and carried away the whole of the poop railing, and one of the davits. The schooner lost her jibboom. After ascertaining tbat the Aurora was all right, Captain M'Gee proceeded on to Wellington, where the damage done to the steamer was repaired The Wellington was ia charge of the second officer at the time of the collision, which occurred about 5.30 a.m. on Wednesday. An enquiry will probably be held at Wellington.
