The Eev Hazelton arrived by the Zealandia, and is delegated by the Irish Wesleyan Conference to collect subscriptions to liquidate the balance of the cost of the Dublin Wesleyan College. He has been very successful in America. A serious collapse occurred at the extension of the Helensville Railway Station, Kaipara. Seven hundred feet of double piling, driven to support the earthwork along the river bank, gave way. The structure contained two hundred thousand feet of totara, and it was intended to carry thirty thousand yards of earth work, but it has given way under the weight of the first hundred tons. Lyttelton, Friday. Cleared: N. Z. Company's chartered ship Pleiades, for London, with a cargo valued at £152,000. Riverton, Friday. Another new reef ha 3 been discovered on the summit of Longwood, two miles above the prospectors' claim. The ground is pegged off for miles. Ground is now taken up from the base of Longwood to the top. Very little real prospecting is being done until leases are granted by the warden. A public meeting was held here last night, at which a resolution was carried condemnatory of granting leases for large areas of ground. The prospectors having been granted protection for their application, are now showing prospects which ara exceedingly rich. They report a seam two feet thick, and there is great excitement in consequence. Hickurangi, Friday. Tawhaio demands that the Waikato be placed under his control from Maungatuitiri to Taupo, He saya this must be settled today. Sir G. Grey offered him land- belonging to the Government on the right bank of the river; 500 acres at Ngatiruanahia; £500 a year; to build a house for him at Kawai ; and to give him some allotments in the township for his children. The meeting is still going on. Saturday. The great native meeting is over. Nothing has been finally settled. Sir |George Grey pat his proposals to Tawhaio in writing in order that the King and chiefs may consider them at leisure. Oamaru, Saturday. Business in grain and breadstuffs is limited, and millers are only purchasing wheat for immmediate requirements. Oats are in good demand at 3s to 3s 4d; prime malting barley, 5s 6d; flour, £11 10s to £12 of f.0.b.; Oatmeal, £.8; pearl barley, £30; pollard, £5 10s; bran, £3 153. Port Chalmers, Saturday. Sailed — Albion Company's ship Oamaru, with 13 passengers and a cargo of wool, wheat, flour, and preserved meats valued at £51,075.
