Messrs Sharp & Pickering report the sale by auction of the freehold estate known as Bearcroft, situate in Waimea West, and belonging to the Executors of the late Sir David Monro, containing about 197 acres together with imprpvements. There was a good attendance of buyers and others, and the bidding was spirited until the figure reached £2000, wbefi tile , competition was entirely between Mr C. Monro and Mr Russ, the Jot being ultimately knocked down to the latter for the sum of £2440. Mr Monro was a bona fide bidder, being anxious if possible to keep the property in the family-.
