The promising tonr the Premier through the Middle Island was brought to a flitting •Conclusion on Saturday last at Blenheim, where he not only undertook to give a deputation that waited upon him re the railway, all that they asked for but more than they ever dreamt of. He was petitioned for the extension of the line into Blenheim, of which towu it now steps short about a mile. This was promised without the slightest hesitation and in addition he led the deputation to expect that ere long they would be "tied to Christchurch by railway " and connected with the West Coast in the same way. Vide telegram. The usual Easter services were held in the churches yesterday. At All Saints' the chancel wss elegantly decorated, the oulpit, reading desk, and font were trimmed with lycopodium and flowers, and the latter was surmounted by a handsome cross of white and colored chrysanthemums. Round the chancel walls was a beautiful scroll hearing the words " Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more ; Death hath no more dominion over him.»' Over the altar was a cross, below whichwere the words " This do in remembrance of me," and on the eastern wall were four banners, two of scarlet and two of blue. On the former there were incribed in white letters " Worthy the Lamb that is slain," and " Jesus was dead and is alive," and on the latter, in gold letters, " Christ is risen from the dead" and "In Christ shall all be made alive." The effect of the decorations was very pleasing. At Christ Church yesterday morning a very solemn and feeling allusion was made by the Bishop of Nelson to the death of the late Bishop Selwyn, and in the evening the Rev. J. Leighton preached an eloquent sermon on the same subject, irt the course of which Ihe gave a brief but interesting sketch of tha ate prelate's career in New Zealand. The. Customs receipts, collected at the Port of Nelson, for the week ended April 20. amounted to £542 15s 6d. Premature decay. Erom inherent weakness, overwork, continued exposure to unwholesome air or sudden variations of temperature, from business cares, sorrow, or other causes the constitutions of many persons prematurely decay. Under such circumstances a wise discrimination should be exercised in selecting the material wherewith to repair dilapidation and restore the human edifice. Remember that tbe sanction of four thousand physicians has been accorded to Udolpho Wolfe's Schiedam Aromatic Schnapps.— Advt.
