Two men came from Port Levy this morning, and gave information to the police that John Loder, who had been working with them, had shot himself during the nighty One of them was sleeping in the tent with Loder but did not hear the shot fired. The police have gone to investigate the matter. Blenheim, Sunday. Mr Joseph Ward has announced himself as a candidate for the Wairau seat ( now occupied by Mr Seymour ) in the Grey interest at the next election. The Premier arrived at one o'clock. Mr Henderson, the defeated candidate at the last two elections, and a committee, presented an address, Sir G. Grey replied, expressing his thanks and promising the extension of the railway into Blenheim at once. He hoped soon to seet he district tied to Christchurch hy railway, and ia his time he believed they would also be connected with the West Coast.
