The steam yacht Tainui proved very useful yesterday, when she started on a cruise tor the missing cutter Planet, which was met wilh a few miles from NeJson and the little yacht returned wilh the good news. It appeared that the Planet had to run before the sou-wester to Waikawa Bay in the French Pass, where she lay until the gale was over, and then set sail for Nelson. The s.s Wellington leaves Wellington afternoon and will be in and out of this port to-morrow's tide leaving at 11 a.m. for Wellington via Pictou. The Maori, on her periodical trip around the Middle Island, arrived iv harbour at 7. o'clock on Saturday evening, and sailed shortly afterwards for Lyttelton and Dunedin. The Ketch Ocean Bird arrived at Wanganui from Waitapu with 29,000 feet of timber on Friday last Captain Moore reports having had a spin with the schooner Nelson on the passage, and beating sea.
