The Taiaroa sailed for Northern ports at 4.30 p.m. on Saturday, and reached Onehunga at 9.30 this morning. # The Murray arrived at Hokitika, this morning from Greymouth. She reports heavj sea on both bars.

The Kennedy left for Wellington last evening at six o'clock with a large number of excursionists, and arrived there early this morning.

The Charles Edward left for Westport yesterday morning, but owing to the strong N.W. winds yesterday her arrival there can scarcely be expected until this evening. The Wellington leaves Wellington this afternoon. She will arrive here to-morrow morning, and sail for Picton and Wellington . at 5 p.m. same day.. : Accepting an invitation from the Messrs Brown, owners of the yacht Tainui, between forty and fifty persons embarked in her on Saturday afternoon for the purpose of witnessing a trial of the engines, as it had been resolved, upon to make a trial of these in order to take the stiffness - incidental to all new engines— out of tnem. After sundry gyrations had been made, the little steamer took a spin up and down the harbor, when a good speed was got out of her, considering that she was not trimmed. The trial trip -was pre-eminently satisfactory. On Good Friday the official trial trip will take place, when the measured mile will be run.
