The presentment will lv due coursa he forwarded to the proper authorities, but as similar representations were made two years ago after Powell's escape, and no notice was taken of them, it is extremely doubtful whether the Government will move in the matter. The Customs receipts for the week ending this day amounted to £579 8s 7d. The anniversary of the Stoke Wesleyan Sunday School will be celebrated to-morrow, when sermons will be preached by the Her. Mr Bowse. On Tuesday there will be a tea and public meeting, . The anniversary sermons in connection with the Richmond -Union Sunday . School " will be preached in the Baptist Chapel to- • morrow evening. On "Wednesday there will be a tea and public meeting. ■ Andrew Godbaz, who a few days ago was brought up in Nelson on a charge of assault- ■ ing the police at the Lyell and remanded to that place, was on Thursday sentenced to two months' imprisonment by Charles Broad Esq-, R.M. .- .. The Rev. Mr Bavin will preach in the Wesleyan Church to-morrow morniug and evening. Every pang that racks the system is a mute entreaty for relief, on the part of Nature.
