Another shipment of hematite ore arrived by the Mermaid yesterday, consigned to Messrs Johnston Brothers. The cutter Dauntless arrived from Collingwood yesterday afternoon with a load of coal from the Para Para mine. The Murray sailed for the West Coast this morning at six o'clock with the San Francisco mail. The Kennedy leaves Westport for Nelson to-day. She will arrive here to-morrow, and Bail for Wellington with excursionists on Sunday at 6 p.m. i The Lyttelton arrived off the Wairau bar yesterday, hut -was unable to cross it. It is expected that she will get inside to-day. The Napier, bound for Wellington, is reported as being detaiued inside the bar. . The Alhambra, which left Melbourne on Saturday last, was not telegraphed as having 'arrived at the Bluff when we went to press. • . The Tararua arrived at Melbourne on Tuesday, and the Albion on Wednesday, from New Zealand. . The Taiaroa leaves Wellington this evening at 5 o'clock, will arrive here to-morrowi ■ morning, and sail for Taranaki and Manukau at 4.30 p.m. . The deep sea fishing cutter Margaret 1 Scollay, well known in these waters, was sold by auction on Wednesday, at Wellington for £77 10s. 'i The Wellington, with a large number of passengers, sailed for Pieton and Wellington this afternoon. She will be placed on the patent slip at the latter place to have some' llight repairs effected to her. The p.s. Charles Edward arrived this morning at 11 o'clock. She left Nelson on. the 10th inst., at 8.30 p.m., with light vari-! able winds, which continued until arrival at! Wellington at 10.30 a.m. on the 11th; left' again at 10.15 p.m. same day arriving here as above. The Charles Edward sails for West Coast ports at 9 a.m. on Sunday. The Union Company's s.s. Taranaki, Capt.i Malcolm, with the inward San Francisco mail, arrived alongside the Commercial. Wharf at 11 o'clock last evening. She left Onehunga at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, and reached New Plymouth at 5.30 a.m. yesterday; landed passengers, mails, and cargo, and proceeded on to Nelson at 9 a.m., arriving here as above. Experienced fine weather throughout the passage. After landing and shipping a few tons of cargo the Taranaki Bailed for Wellington and South shortly before 2 o'clock this morning.
