The Charles Edward left Westport for Nelson via Karamea this morning. The Murray arrived at Westport this morniug, aud sailed for Greymouth by the same tide. Tbe Wellington sailed for Picton and Wellington at 6.40 this morning, and will leave the latter port on the return trip ou Monday, arriviug here on Tuesday morning, and sailthe same day at 6 p.m. The Alhambra left Melbourne for New Zealand on Wednesday last. She has on hoard a large quantity of salmon ova ex Chimborazo, from London. The stem and part of the keel of tbe iron eteamer about to be constructed atthe Anchor Foundry bas been laid. The steamer will be built outside the breastwork opposite the Foundry. Our telegrams mentioned tbe other day the arrival of the Claud Hamilton at Port Chalmers. We learn that sbe has been chartered to convey Cooper & Bailey's circus from Melbourne rigbt round New Zealand and back to Sydney. The Union Company's s.s. Taiaroa, Captain Kennedy, arrived in harbor this morning at 7.30. On her last trip she only went as far as Lytteiton, which port she left on the return trip at 330 p.m*-J on Thursday, and experienced strong northerly winds with heavy head sea, arriving at Wellington at 2 pm. yesterday; sailed again at 8.30 pm., experienced a strong northerly breeze in the Straits, came through the French Pass, and a-rived here as abovo. Tbe Taiaroa sails for Taranaki and Manukau at 5 p.m. Several changes have taken place on board the Ringarooma in the positions of the officers. Mr Newman, the chief officer, has been appointed tothe commardof the steamer Omeo, while his place has been filled by Mr Webster, tbe second officer. In the engineroom we notice that Mr Taylor, the third engineer, has been appointed second in the place of Mr Brock, who has been transferred to tbe Onico. We congratulate all of them on their promotions. Messrs M'Meckan, Blackwood, and Co.'s fine steamer Ringarooma, 1100 tons, Captain J. W. Clark, left the Sandridge Railway Pier on March 6th at 2-30 p.m. with 380 tons of cargo and 75 passengers for New Zealand; cleared Port Phillip Heads the same day at 5-15 p.m., and passed Swau Island at 3 5 "p.m. on the following day; from whence encountered a succession of strong westerly gales with high confused sea, which lasted until arrival off the Solanders on Sun 'ay, March 10th, at 7-30 p.m.; stood off the land, aud at 11-10 a.m. on the following day arrived at the Bluff; left same day for Port Chalmers, and arrived there on the 12th at 5-15 a.m.; sailed again same day at 4-10 p.m., and arrived at Lytteiton at 9-30 a.m. on the 13th; left at 5-15 p.m., aud reached Wellington at 10 4ii a.m. on the 14th; sailed at 4-15 p.m. yesterday, came round the Islaud under easy steam, and arived here at 5-30 this morning. The Ringarooma sails for Wellington, South j and Melbourne at 6 p.m.
