The I'a.t is this:— in iB7o, on December 2.*, I let one property for a term of six years, and 1 stated to my solicitor that lhe tenant had to pay the rates then iunning and he worded it as tollows (to pay all rate., taxes, and assessments now payable, or hereafter to become payable, in i-_spo«t of the demised premises) so J thought it ull right. But tlie tenant did not pay, und I vas threatened to be sued for the rates— :3os, so 1 paid them. Now that rate lias beei. p:iid aud another rate has been levied and paid in due time. I have always paid aU my other rates in due time. Sir, could you or any one let me know if such
