[PBESB AGENCY.] CHRisTcnnRCH, Saturday. Wheat, 4s 3d to 4s 6d; oats, 3s 3d; barley, 4s7dto 4s I0d; flour, £12 10s; bran £4. Grain deliveries are very backward. Several flour contracts are pending at low rates. The wheat market has an easier tendency since the last cablegram in consequence of the prospects of peace in Europe. A telephone concert on a rather elaborate scale comes off this evening. In consequence of the opposition of the steamers, the Government have lowered the railway tariff on wool and grain between Oamaru and Lyttelton, and further reductions will take place shortly. The Sun newspaper was disposed of by auction for £3100. It was bought in for the directors. There is a mortgage of £3000 on it. Lyttelton, Friday. The schooner Richard and Mary, of Nelson, about which fears were entertained, and to-day was seventeen days out from Omaha, has arrived. She was driven to Port Underwood for shelter three times. Timaru, Friday. The weather is fine and farmers are carrying on harvest operations in full swing. There have been a few small deliveries of grain during the week, the quality being remarkably good. If fine weather- continues, the grain market will be in full swing. Wheat, 3s lOd ; oats, 2s 9d to 2s lid ; barley, 3s to 3s 3d. Saturday. A large quantity of immense raoa remains have been discovered by a man digging in a swamp in the south part of Timaru, two feet below the surface. One bone.f rom the ankle joint to the thigh is four feet in length, and at the ankle joint one bone is eighteen inches in circumference. All the bones have been charred by fire, and appear to be of a great age. Oamaro, Saturday. The farmers are very busy availing themselves of the magnificent weather to get in their crops. Very little threshing has yet taken place, and there hare been no deliveries in town worth noting. The quality this year is excellent, and the yield a good average. Quotations: Wheat, 4s; oats, 3s to 3s 3d; fiour, f.0.b., £13 to £13 15s; pearl barley, £20; pollard, £5 ss; bran, £3 ss. Auckland, Friday. Hamilton, confectioner, was arrested at Wanganui, on a charge of fraudulent insolvency and committed for trial to-day. The evidence showed that about a hundred pounds' worth of sugar and other goods was concealed in a friend's house. Mr Buckland reports: — Cattle, 25s to 27s per lOOlbs; fat sheep, downward tendency; fat lambs, 8s to Us; ewes, 2d to 2-J-d per lb. Share market :— Buyers, National Bank, 7ls, ex dir.; Colonial, 495; Union Insurance, 13s 6d. South British, 795. Dunedin, Friday. The installation of Judge Harvey as Provincial Grand Master of the Scotch Constitution, has been fixed for the 15th proximo. The ceremony will be performed at the Masonic Hall, and will be followed by a banquet. Wellington, Saturday. Mr George Thomas reports produce prices as follows:— Flour, colonial, £14 to £14 10s; Adelaide, £18 10s to £19; oats, 4s 3d, and scarce; wheat, |4s; hams, 9d; bacon, 8d; cheese, 7£d; pollard, £5 10s; maize, ss; butter, lid. New Plymouth, Saturday. Mr Courtney yesterday sold land outside the boundary of New Plymouth for £75 per acre, which only two months ago was sold for £35 per acre.
