COMMERCIAL
Messrs Patterson and Co.'s first monthly sale at Wakefield on Friday, the loth inst., was fairly attended, but, owing to a feeling of uncertainty as to the presence of purchasers, the amount of stock offered for sale was small. A very decided wish was, however, expressed by the up-country settlers that these sales should be continued; doubtless, therefore, there will be a marked improvement in the next, which will be held on Wednesday, the 13th March. Some cows were disposed of at from £6 to £8 and a few horses at from £8 to £20. After the sale of cattle, a i onsiderabie quantity of drapery and general merchandise was disposed of at satisfactory prices.
On Saturday Messrs Patterson and Co. sold fresh butter at from 3d to M per Ib; cheese, 6d to 7dj onions, lj-d; a quantity or furniture, aud au invoice of samples of men's clothing, &c, was cleared at fair rates.
