The following items are from Australian papers per Wakatipu : — London, Jauuary 25. The Daily Telegraph's own correspondent in Constantinople says that one of the terms o"; peace is that a portion of the Russian army is to enter Stamboul in order to satisfy Russian honor. In fche House of Lords, the Earl of Beaconsfield stated that the action of the Government in relation to Eastern affairs cannot depend upon fche will of a foreign Government, or upon the withholding of auy documents. It has been notified to the Czar by the British Government that in consequence of the possible temporary occupatiou of Constantinople by Russian troops a special vote was resolved on. Earl Carnarvon has assigned as the reason for his resignation that the Premier had severely condemned the speech he made to a deputation on the second instant. A telegram received by the Daily News from Berlin states tbat Russia has resolved upon seizing the outworks of Constantinople. Melbourne, February 5. The Geelong Gold Cup was won by Newminster.
