THE COMING SPORTS.
To tub Editor ov the 'Evening Mail.' Sir—Would you kindly allow me to inquire of " Amateur" if he is afraid of the boy Eraser agaiu competing at the forthcoming sports iv connection with the Friendly Societies of Nelson, and if he will tell me the names of the " professionals " who ever did compete here, as I know of norn^ Amateurs in other places train more than Nelson competitors do, and if poor " Auia teitr " were to practise more with respect to his " wind" he might do better. It is also more interesting to the public to kuow that .Nelson "amateurs " are to try their wiuuing powers against all comers. I should also advise Nelson competitors to study the art of decent dressing for the coming sports, as such dresses as were worn at the Caledonian sports were utterly shameful. They might hare looked decent years ago when they were new. Iv other places they would not be allowed on the ground.—l am, &c, Fair Play.
