The Wallace will sail for Wellington direco at 8 o'clock this evening. The Charles Edward leaves Greymouth tomorrow for Nelson via Westport. The Lady Barkly arrived from Golden Bay last evening. The Luna arrived at Wellington from Nelson at three o'clock this morning. The Kennedy sailed for West Coast ports with the San Erancisco mail this afternoon. The Lyttelton leaves for Havelock, Blenheim, and Wellington this afternoon. The Murray leaves Wellington for Nelson this evening, and will sail for the Coast on Tuesday afternoon. The schooner Richard and Mary sailed for Waitapu last evening. She loads there with timber for some Southern port. Another cargo of hematite ore has arrived here. The ketch Mermaid, which came into harbor yesterday afternoon, brings a load consigned to Mr Louisson. The Wellington leaves Wellington this afternoon, will arrive here to-morrow, and sail for Picton and Wellington on Monday at 3-30 p.m. The Alhambra leaves Wellington this evening, will arrive to-morrow, and sail for Melbourne via Westport, Greymouth, aud Hokitika on Monday at 2 p.m. The Albion has been detained at Melbourne for an overhaul, so there will be no steamer from Melbourne by way of the West Coast for a week or two, the remainder of the Melbourne steamers coming via the South. The Union Steam Shipping Company's steamer Taiaroa, which has recently been runnirg between Sydney and New Caledonia, has returned to the colony, and will run to Manukau alternatively with the Tarauaki. She will leave here on Saturday next with the outward San Erancisco mail. The Union Company's s.s. Taranaki, Captain Malcolm, came into harbor this morning at 10.30. She left Port Chalmers on Wednesday afternoon, and arrived at Lyttelton next morning; sailed same day, and reached Wellington yesterday morning; left shortly after twelve last night, came slowly along, and arrived here as above. Fine weather was experienced throughout. The Taranaki sailed for Taranaki and Manukau at 3 p.m. The arrivals here of home ships were fewer last year than they have been for many years past. They numbered four, and were as follows:— Chaudiere, Northampton, Lochnagar, and Waitara. Two of these only brought cargoes, the remainder bringing immigrants. One vessel— the Queen Bee — never reached here, while the Margaret Galbraith discharged the Nelson portion of her cargo at Lyttelton, to the great inconvenience of merchants here. Things, however, look brighter during the present year, one home -vessel haviug already arrived, while two are on their way out. .The trade between this port and Wellington has been pretty brisk during the past week. Almost every day a steamer ha3 left here for the Empire City with a moiety of passengers and cargo, the latter consisting principally of fruit. No one can complain of the want of communication between the two ports, which is being fully supplied by the Union Company's steamer Wellington, the Luna, and last, though not least, the Anchor Line of steamers.
