Ciiristchukch, Saturday. By 325 the Australians were all out* for 46 runs. A. Bannerman's score was 14. When the stumps were drawn the score of the Canterbury fifteen stood— lo wickets for 105 runs.

Monday. Owing to the heavy rain the cricket match is postponed till Tuesday and Wednesday.

Wellington, Saturday. The Argus says it is the intention of the Government at the end of the present financial year to hand over all hospitals within municipalities to the County Councils, paying from the consolidated fund one pound for each pound contributed otherwise towards their support. The same paper also says that Mr Larnach will shortly retire from the Miuistry in consequence of the unsatisfactory state of his health, aud that the Government iutend increasing the number of Ministers to seven without delay.

Mr Sheehan having received a lettier from King Tawhiao asking the Native Minister to visit him to settle the affairs of the North Island, Sir George Grey and Mr Sheehan have determined to visit the King shortly; consequently the Premier's projected visit to the Wairarapa has been put off until his return from the King country.

Another altercation occurred in the Court to-day between Mr Barton and the Chief Justice. The latter told Mr Bartonthat he would not suffer any of his impertinence, and ordered him to sit down.
