To thb Editor ov the 'Evening Mail.' Sir,— The presence of Mr Bright at Nelson reminds me of a reply I received from Melbourne relative to my inquiry as to whether or not the learned lecturer was able to retain an audience there during the term of his lectures. The following is what my correspondent says. I enclose you his letter as verification :— " It is true that Bright's last meeting was in the Town Hall, a meeting to present him with something. But it is also true that his meetings in the Temperance Hall dwindled in interest aud numbers, though they did not wholly disappear. I expect Bright himself was exhausted (of ideas) as well as his audience of interest. He was to have published his lectures, but never did, although the intention to publish was loudly announced. lam glad you have tackled C. B. He is a, wind bag, and you may easily prick him, so that he hopelessly collapses." I make no comment, your readers, as their sympathies dispose them, will form their own opinions.— l am. &c, P.
