The Argus has the following:—And so, as the vulgar saying .has it, there are some more " billets sticking out." In a telegram from our own correspondent at Duuedin will be foutid a statement made by Mr Macatidrew whilst receiving a deputation. He is reported to have said thac a permanent resident Minister was necessary for Dunedin. This may be taken as the Government's opinion iv the matter, and therefore we may, and doubtless will, next find a permanent resident Minister declared to be necessity in the cases of Auckland, Christchurch, Hokitika and other places. The permanent resident Ministers will, however, we expect, bo appointed under the title of General Agents, such as Dr Pollen was for a long time in Auckland, and thus the Government, which is exercising so strict and severe an economy by paring down the increase of salaries allowed to subordinate Government clerks will be able to make some nice political appointments for the Bunnys, and Earffs of their nartv.
