T> 0 018 BOUND IN. ANT STYLK. R. LtTC A S & SON. ♦'Is there no hope?'-the sick man said jTbe silent doctor shook his head. " Whiie'thero is life there's hope/ he cried.' * Mgroto % dumanimasest, spes eat." DR. L. L. SMITJI ; - (The only legally-qualified Medical man advertising), CONSULTS — On all affections of the Nervous System (no matter from whit cause arising); on all broken-down Gcnstitutloaa ; on all Diseases arising from early Indiscretions ; on Gout ; on Rheumatism. IN these Colonies, those excesaea which we have indulged in "hot youth" tell upon us with fearful interest. Our regrets ate useless, our repinings futile. The Bole- idea should be the chances we possess of remedying the ills we already have, or combating tne effects likely to result. Hide it as he may— put on aa good an exterior as hercan—atiil is the victim conscious that he is a living lie, and that sooner or later his vices will discover him to the world. Oar Faith— our obligations to society at large— the welfare of our iuture offspring— aud the duty we owe to ourselves— forbids procraati nation, and points out to us not to wait 'till the ravages break out in our constitutions. Before negotiating with a merchant, before engaging with a confidential clerk; before employing a barrister— a careful man makes inquiries as to their standing ; and, io the case of a legal adviser, both aa to his legal qualifications and as to his capabilities of transacting the individual business he consults him upon. Strange to say, however, in the selection of a medical man, the sufferer frequently omits thess necessary precautions, and without regard to the' fitness, qualification, experience, and ability for the particular ailment requiring treatment, he consults the ueareat man, whose experience and practice, perhaps, liea in quite an opposite direction. Is it astonishing that 80 many arc driven mad, are ruined in health, and are bankrupt in spirits, hope, and money? Have 1 not, tor years, pointed out to them that I, Dr. L. L, Smith, am the only legally-qualified medical mam advertising in the Colonies f tlaVe I uot also prosecuted, at my own expense, these very quacks, and exposed the various nostrums they are selling— such as Jfhosphodyne, Essence of Life, &c— and had them analysed, and found them to consist of " Burnt sugar and flavoring matter," and the certificates 1 have phovbd to be^ll forgeries; -It is lor this reason that I step oujrof the ethics of the profession and advertise, to give those who requrie the services of my branch an opportunity of knowing they can consult a legally qualified man, and one moreover who uaa made this his especial study. Dr L. L. Smith is the only legally qualified medical man advertising, and he has been in Melbourne 24 years in full practice on Nervons Diseases Loss of Power and Debility Syphilitic Affections Want of Condition Gout and Rheumatism. ! Dr.jjL. L. SMITH can beconsulted by letter —Fee £> I. Medicines forwarded to all the colonies. . ' Db. L. L. SMITH, 182 Collins at. last. (Late the Residence of the Governor), MSLBOUBNE. ]02 \
